Snoring Mouthpiece

Snoring can also be caused when the tongue or the lower jaw collapses into the airway and the airflow is reduced. There are devices known as snoring mouthpieces that prevents the tongue and lower jaw from falling back. This is also good for those who are suffering from sleep apnea. However, using this device may require some time to get used to it.

Nasal Strips and Dilators

These strips are placed on the bridge of the nose so that nostrils are pulled open and breathing through the nose is easier through the night. Mouth breathing results as the chin falls open during sleep. The lower jaw and the tongue may fall back into the airway which can cause snoring. By using a chin strap, the chin will be kept in place and the tongue and lower jaw will not fall back at night. Those with mild sleep apnea can also use this.

Sometimes a combination of the above mentioned devices may be used to optimize sleep hygiene. Other methods include avoiding food before bedtime, relaxing before going to sleep, and being comfortable in the darkness of the room.
